          Foward Basic ( 0 to 52 )

The man's left hand and the woman's right create a teepee with the root of the arms in normal dance frame position. The man and woman are directly aligned with each other in a closed dance position and not offset. Texas Two Step uses a man's heel-toe step or man's flat foot step. There are pauses and slight stretches on the slows. The woman must move her legs on time and adequately to get out of the way of the man's forward leg movement since the man and woman are not offset.

Transition from forward line to back line ( 52 to 149 )

The first three steps are the same as a forward basic. On the fourth step (slow), however, the man positions his right foot between the woman's feet and on the fifth step (quick) then moves his left foot to the side (quick). While doing the fourth and fifth steps the man moves his body in a sideways position. The fifth step (quick) is perpendicular to the line of dance and in the sixth (slow) the man closes his two feet together. On the seventh step the man steps forward directly in front of the woman with his left foot and then on the eight and last step closes his right foot together with the left. During the seventh and eight steps the man turns his body to a back line position while maintaining his dance frame.

Transition from back line to forward line ( 149 to 246 )

Begin with the left foot moving backwards. The first three steps are the same as a back basic. On the fourth step (slow), however, the man positions his right foot outward and behind and he then moves his left foot to the side (quick) of the right and slightly apart. He then closes his feet together. While doing the fourth and fifth steps the man moves his body in a sideways position. The fifth step (quick) is perpendicular to the line of dance and in the sixth (slow) the man closes his two feet together.

On the seventh step the man steps forward directly behind the woman with his left foot and then on the eight and last step closes his right foot together with the left. During the seventh and eight steps the man turns his body to a front line position while maintaining his dance frame.

          Lady's right turn ( clockwise ) to promenade ( 246 to 342 )

The first three steps are the same as a forward basic. On the fourth step (slow), however, the man positions his right foot diagonally to his right side and moves the lady to the promenade position on his right side, her left side.

On his fifth step, he moves his left foot forward and turns into promenade. His right hand is on the woman's left back shoulder ( scapula ) and her left hand is on his right shoulder (deltoid). The man's left hand is forward and in front of the woman preparing her for a clockwise turn. At the end of the fifth step and immediately beginning the sixth step, he then moves his left hand clockwise around over her head to lead the right side turn. The turn takes two quicks ( quick, quick ). The man's right hand remains positioned behind the woman palm facing forward as she turns. The last two man's steps are left and then right forward.

Essentially the couple begins forward line closed, turns into promenade, does a right side clockwise turn and then finishes back in promenade again.

Lady's left turn ( side positioned inside turn ) to wrap and throw out to closed ( 342 to end )

The first three steps are the same as a forward basic. On the fourth step (slow), however, the man positions his right foot diagonally to his right and moves the lady to the promenade position on his right side, her left side.

On his fifth step (quick), he moves his left foot forward and turns into promenade. His right hand is on the woman's left back shoulder ( scapula ) and her left hand is on his right shoulder (deltoid). The man's left hand is forward and in front of the woman preparing her for a counter clockwise turn. He remains in promenade until the end of the series. At the end of the fifth step and immediately beginning the sixth step (quick), he then moves his left hand counter clockwise around over her head to lead the right side turn.

On the seventh step the man signals to the woman that the inside turn is coming by gently moving his hand inwards slightly towards his chest then slightly outwards on the eighth step before turning the woman counterclockwise. On the ninth step, the man raises his left hand above the woman's head to lead the counterclockwise ( inside ) turn around her head. He continues to hold her hand after the turn and holds her hand in front of her. The turn takes two quicks ( quick, quick ). The man's right hand remains positioned behind the woman his palm facing forward as she turns.

During the next two slows ( slow, slow ) and two quicks ( quick, quick ) they move forward in promenade. At the end of the second quick, the man raises his left arm to move the woman in front of him. At the same time he gently guides her with his right hand rotating her a quarter turn forward to a closed forward position. He moves from a promenade to forward line he makes a quarter counterclockwise turn.
